How to set up the SciSure integration

The SciSure integration connects your Calira equipment and booking data to SciSure (formerly eLabNext), so researchers can reference instruments and bookings directly within their experiment notebooks. This guide walks through the full setup process.

Requirements

  • A Calira account on an Enterprise subscription
  • A SciSure (eLabNext) account; the integration is available on Team and Enterprise instances
  • You need to be a lab administrator in Calira to authorise the connection

Step 1: Connect SciSure to Calira

  1. In SciSure, go to Configuration > Equipment
  2. Click the Connect to Calira button (may appear as “Connect to Clustermarket”) next to the Add Equipment button
  3. You will be redirected to a Calira authorisation page
  4. Select the labs you want SciSure to access; only equipment and bookings from these labs will be available in SciSure
  5. Click Authorise

SciSure will be able to read equipment data, booking data, and account data from the labs you selected.

Step 2: Verify the connection

Once connected, you should see Calira data in two places within SciSure:

Inventory browser

In Inventory > Inventory Browser, each equipment details panel will show a Reservations section with a link to that instrument’s booking page in Calira. Clicking this link opens the equipment’s calendar in Calira.

Equipment configuration

In Configuration > Equipment, the equipment table will include a Calendar column. Each row shows a “Book equipment” link that opens the instrument’s booking page in Calira.

The Add Equipment button will also link to the Add Equipment modal in Calira, so you can add new instruments without switching platforms. A refresh button next to Add Equipment lets you manually sync the equipment list between Calira and SciSure.

Step 3: Use Calira data in experiments

In Journal > Experiment Browser, open an experiment and click Add Section. You will see a Calira section type (may appear as “Clustermarket”) with two subtypes:

Equipment details

Inserts a section with two buttons:

  • Add equipment details: opens a table of equipment from your authorised Calira labs. Select the instruments used in this experiment to add their details (name, type, manufacturer, model, description, status, manager, room) to the notebook entry.
  • Create new equipment: opens the Add Equipment modal in Calira to register a new instrument.

Booking details

Inserts a section with two buttons:

  • Add booking details: opens a table of your Calira bookings. Select the relevant bookings to add their details (booking ID, equipment name, start and end time, location, notes) to the experiment document.
  • Create a new booking: opens Calira so you can create a booking and then add it to the experiment.

What data syncs

Equipment data flows from Calira to SciSure. The following fields are synced:

Equipment sync happens when you first connect the integration and can be triggered manually using the refresh button in Configuration > Equipment. Booking data is pulled on demand when you insert booking details into an experiment.

Troubleshooting

  • “Connect to Calira” button is not visible: contact your SciSure administrator to confirm the Calira integration is enabled for your instance
  • Equipment list is out of date: click the refresh button in Configuration > Equipment to manually sync
  • Bookings from a specific lab are missing: check that the lab is included in your authorised labs. You may need to re-authorise if you added new labs after the initial setup
