How long does it take to set Calira up?

What affects the timeline?

The main variables are how many instruments you have, how complex your access rules are, and whether you need integrations setting up. Deployment will typically be faster in an SMB environment versus an enterprise rollout.

  • Small labs (under 50 instruments, simple rules): A few days. You can add equipment individually or upload in bulk via CSV, invite users, and start booking.
  • Larger or multi-site labs: Typically a week, depending on the number of labs, access groups, and any integrations with ELN or SSO systems.
  • Enterprise deployments: May take longer if you need custom integration work, multi-lab hierarchies, or phased rollout across sites. The Calira team supports this directly.

What does setup involve?

  1. Add your equipment: one by one or in bulk via a CSV template.
  2. Invite users: by email or shareable link, assigned to roles and access groups.
  3. Configure booking rules: set who can book what, when, and for how long.
  4. Connect integrations: calendar sync, ELN integrations, and SSO if needed.

There’s no lengthy implementation project. Calira is designed so that a lab manager can set up and start using it without dedicated IT support.
